Creative Development

Artistic development is more than technique. It’s about awareness, curiosity, and the ability to stay open. It involves structure and experimentation, discipline and play, knowing when to push, when to pause, and how to sustain momentum over time. Growth comes through consistency, courage, and reflection. It also depends on joy — staying connected to what draws you in, and caring for the mind that makes the work possible.

My creative mentoring supports artists in shaping their ideas from images to finished bodies of work — whether exhibitions, books, or other forms of publication. This includes editing, colour grading, sequencing, and storytelling. Drawing on my experience with The Photobook Club Collective and my own publishing practice, I help artists understand how to bring their work into the world with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Each collaboration is adapted to its context — from individual mentoring and group facilitation to institutional training or artist-development programmes. The aim is to bring clarity, self-trust, and professionalism to every stage of practice — creative, strategic, financial, and emotional.

Professional Development

Business practice is part of the same ecology. It isn’t something to shy away from or see as a betrayal of art, but as a continuation of it; the language through which we sustain integrity, independence, and exchange. With over twenty years of experience as a photographer, colourist, and mentor, I help artists and organisations strengthen both the craft and the confidence behind their work.

This includes guidance in negotiation, pricing, communication, and print-editioning strategy. Collaborations can be commissioned or tailored for organisations, collectives, and galleries that wish to support the professional growth of their artists. Together, we build transparent systems that balance accessibility with collector value; systems that nurture trust, sustainability, and long-term growth within creative ecosystems.

In June 2024, I established a bursary fund to make workshops and mentorship more accessible. Half of all my Patreon income and one-off contributions go directly to support those who might not otherwise be able to participate. The bursary can cover part or all costs for any educational service I offer, including workshops, private tuition, and mentorship.

Application Process:

  • There is no fee to apply for the bursary.

  • Anyone can apply.

  • Fill out the form below indicating the amount of funding you require.

  • You may apply for full or partial assistance.

  • You will be informed of the decision within four weeks.
