Our Gay Wedding:
The Musical
On 29 March 2014, as same-sex marriage became legal in England and Wales, Ben Till and Nathan Taylor were among the first couples to wed, and the first to do so in a musical, broadcast live on national television. Channel 4’s Our Gay Wedding: The Musical transformed their ceremony into a sung-through celebration of love, equality, and hard-won rights. I photographed the day as it unfolded: from backstage nerves to vows sung in harmony, family choruses, surprise celebrity cameos, and confetti at Alexandra Palace. The images accompany a moment when private joy became public history – not just a wedding, but a landmark in the story of LGBTQ+ Britain.
